Abbey Conference and Events were honoured to organise the 4th annual AIPCO Conference (Association of Irish Professional Conference Organisers of which Abbey Conference & Events are a member –www.aipco.ie – on 15th April in Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny. The conference is going from strength to strength each year and its primary focus is on networking and education for event professionals.
Each year, a different AIPCO member is chosen to organise the conference. This was the first year that Abbey Conference & Events were chosen as organisers and Abbey was represented at the conference by its Directors: Patricia McColgan, currently Chair of AIPCO who opened the conference, Marina Finn, Brian McColgan, Darren Byrne, representing our sister company Moloney & Kelly John Healy & Michael Dalton and its Conference Team: Anja Fischer, Danielle Devaney and Greg Carew.
170 meeting and event professionals from all over Ireland attended the event which started by a drinks reception followed by a conference dinner on Thursday 14th April.
The main event included: 17 exhibitors in total including some local suppliers The theme of the conference was “10 ways to nail your sale” and the findings of the conference will be published shortly. Speakers included Clinical Psychologist, Maureen Gaffney, Meetology CEO, Jon Bradshaw, Social Media author and guru, Gerrit Heijkoop and Head of the Dublin Convention Bureau, Sam Johnston.
New innovative features were introduced this year such as a conference app (www.aipco16.com) and graphic harvesting which is an innovative new visual summary of each presentation – details can be seen on the Abbey Conference and events twitter page: https://twitter.com/abbeyconference)
Fun ideas such as gamification through the app and the Gaelic Games Experience Hurling tunnel were introduced to the conference for the first time.
